Manifesto
The DOGME '10 manifesto is flexible. Ideologically though, DOGME' 10 promotes
films that are unconventional and are not plausible to make in conventional format.
Films made under DOGME' 10
concentrate on the story and the actors' performances.
These two
attributes should be the audiences primary engagement in the film.
There is NO "Vow of Chastity"; though adherence to following is recommended:
1.
Filming
must be done on location. Props and sets must not be brought in. If a
particular prop is necessary for the story, a location must be chosen
where this prop is to be found.
2.
The film is advised to be shot in English language in 4-5 days; maximum a week.
3.
The subject-matter of the film is advised to be realistic.
4.
The
camera must be a hand-held camera. Any movement or immobility
attainable in the hand is permitted. The films can be shot on any
camera.
5.
The sound in the film is advised to be sync-sound; but it might be dubbed at the discretion of the film-maker.
6.
The film is advised to be shot without any make-up; to retain the film's realistic feel.
7.
The
film is advised to be shot without the use of light; to retain the
film's realistic feel. The film is advised to be in color.
8.
Temporal and geographical alienation is advised to be forbidden (that is to say that the film takes place here and now).
9.
The
final picture can be cast through any medium. Though, it is advised to
transfer film to 35mm, with an aspect ratio of 4:3, that is, not
widescreen.
10.
The
film is advised to be shot in Paranormal Activity style or with the use
of minimal crew so that the actor's focus is not hampered. The crew, if
used, is advised to be credited only in the end-titles.
